"To Him be the Glory"

Micah led the youth in a week of local Service Projects. They did yard work, cleaned up at the beach, helped at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and visited a nursing home. They learned about praying for others while serving the Lord.  Thank you to Josh and Abigail for walking along side Micah this week. Our youth were truly blessed!

Youth Pastor Micah Thompson said instead of the 3 kids expected to go on the Maine trip, 11 or 12 ended up participating in the local missions trip.

“Some kids were significantly touched, it brings the service into their world,” said Micah.

Encouraging and exciting,” said Youth Pastor Micah Thompson about the recent change in the youth activities at Church of the Apostles.

Focused on “community building and Bible study,” Micah said, “This is where the discipleship really happens.”

Now working on finding identity in Christ, three small groups, two separated by gender, meet every other week for Biblical study and discussion and every Sunday night for a time of fellowship.

“The goal on Sunday nights is for them to interact with more kids and develop better friendships,” said Micah.

For all the youth, grades 6-12, Micah teaches for 15 minutes towards the end of the hour and a half they spend at the Christian Heritage School student center.  The first hour is spent playing games and spending time in community. Other ideas for future Sunday night events include coffee houses, sit down dinners, and watching the movie Passion of the Christ, an event parents are invited to.

“I am excited about where we are headed,” said Micah.

  •  Confirmation Class is offered to the teenagers at Church of the Apostles each Fall. Confirmation is a sacrament admitting a baptized person to full participation in the church. This is a time of transition for each student as they take all that they have been taught about their faith and make it their own.  Any baptized Christian entering grades 8-12, whose family are Covenant Members at Apostles, is welcome to attend and spend the school year in preparation for the laying on of hands by the Bishop at the Confirmation Service each Spring. Preparation consists of Bible study, review of Anglican doctrine, and service to the body of believers at Apostles. For more information, please contact the church office.
